Mayapur - Panihati

On our first day we stop at Panihati. Raghav Pandits home is close by from here.

Here amongst several lakes of clear cool water are a few homes. It is where Raghunath Das lived. This teertha is a location of a pastime called dahi-chuda. Mahaprabhu ate here rice chips soaked in dahi with sugar. The preparation is sweet. The taste is something that cannot be recreated. It was a very different sweet taste. Nitai asked Raghunath Das to prepare dahi-chuda and feed all vaishnavas as part of some sweet punishment. It was a grand festival.

In the temple area is a banyan tree. Nityanand prabhu would meditate under this tree.

We also visited a temple of Madana Mohan walking distance from here. The pujari looked very absorbed in devotional thoughts. We had nice darshan from very close and I remember being mesmerised by the beauty of the deities.
